LETTERS OF SUPPORT:

From 2010

Coroner Supports Kintz:

The primary election on August 10 will decide, which, among the candidates seeking office, will be placed on the November election ballot.

I am asking you to support David Kintz Jr. for Coroner in the primary election. David the qualities needed in your Coroner. He is intelligent, compassionate, and considerate. His extensive emergency medical background has prepared him to evaluate medical conditions and understand the mechanisms of injury and illness. He has already attended, on his own, some training with the Colorado Corners Association and has availed himself of materials from my office and asked countless questions. I am impressed with his understanding of the position. As an EMT he has worked closely with me on scenes, showing his interest, and talent for observation and investigation.

I know that David will learn how the present Coroners office works and then he will use is knowledge and enthusiasm to make changes and well thought out improvements under his administration. David has lived here all his life and knows the county and its citizens. He will listen to you.

Again, please vote in the primary on August 10. Your candidate, for any office, cannot get on the November ballot without your vote. All candidates are Republican or unaffiliated this year so Democrats can change party or become unaffiliated before July 12 and be able to vote in the primary and then change back. Registered unaffiliated voters can declare affiliation when they vote. Contact your county clerk if you have questions. Let the candidate of your choice face the independent candidates in the General Election in November.

Deputy coroner for Kintz

To the Editor, David Kintz Jr. for county coroner has the support of long-time Park County deputy coroner. I am writing this letter to encourage the voters of Park County to vote for David Kintz Jr. to fill the position of Park County coroner. My name is Glenn Pence. I have lived in Park County for 39 years and have been a deputy coroner for 29 years. As deputy coroner, I have worked under four different coroners, and in my professional opinion, David Kintz Jr. is the more desirable candidate for the job. I respect him and believe he would make an excellent coroner, and I would gladly work with him in the future. I have met with him and spent time discussing his concerns and ideas. I believe him to be a sincere, concerned and stable professional that would be a true asset to Park County. On Aug. 10, 2010, I would appreciate you casting your vote for David Kintz Jr. He can do the job for the people of Park County.

Thank You,

Glenn M. Pence

My introducing myself has a bearing on the purpose of this letter. I am a retired certified Physician Assistant (PA) with years of emergency room experience, an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) provider, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and for 30 years a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor. More recently I have been a volunteer firefighter with Hartsel Fire and one of a small group of trained Deputy Coroners working with Park County Coroner Sharon Morris. Each call requires a different set of skills and approach to the scene. There is no such thing as a routine death. The deceased and the surviving family deserve a caring and competent coroner to deal with. That leads up to why I am writing this letter.

I have been asked by some who know me why I haven’t run for the coroner position and the answer is age and enthusiasm. I’m a slightly senior citizen and not looking for another career. With that in mind I can and do lend my support and endorsement to David Kintz Jr. as he has youth and the capability of taking on the challenge of County Coroner. I have worked with David in the field on accident and medical calls and can testify as to his professionalism, dedication and abilities. I have also been an assistant instructor with him in CPR classes and can attest to his knowledge and interpersonal skills.

I am aware of who the other candidates are and cannot say as much for them as they haven’t been as active in the community as David, not only as a volunteer in community activities but having built himself a business to be proud of.

I ask you to join me in my support and vote for David Kintz Jr.

I am writing this letter in support of David (DJ) Kintz, Jr. for the Park County Office of Coroner. This office is unique in that it covers such a broad spectrum of duties as well as expectations. It requires a person of empathy, character, discretion and analytical reasoning ability. Of these qualities, perhaps discretion is the most underrated. Not only will there be instances when the coroner is involved in the profound, immediate grief of surviving loved ones, coroners, during the course of performing their duties have access to medical information that would be otherwise protected from disclosure. When dealing with the death of a loved one, strong emotions are unavoidable. David has the mental and emotional tools to deal with these situations. However, just as important as the personal nature of death, is the more practical nature of the job. The duty of Office of Coroner may be described as both judicial and ministerial. It is his or her special province and duty to make inquiry into the causes and circumstances of any death happening within the county which occurs through violence or suddenly and with marks of suspicion. Citizens may not realize that when there is no sheriff in any county, it is the duty of the coroner to exercise all the powers and duties of the sheriff of his county until a sheriff is appointed or elected and qualified. Thus, this Office has the potential burden of great responsibility. I have known and worked with David for over 7 years. He has an extraordinary work ethic, he is highly motivated and intelligent, and he understands the Office. With so much required, the Coroner’s race should not be taken lightly. I endorse David Kintz, Jr. for the Office.

I am supporting David Kintz Jr. for Park County Coroner.

David is from Park County, a lifelong resident, that has chosen to stay here, start his own business and raise his family. He knows the county, cares about the county and will serve you for a long time.

He is calm, compassionate, capable and smart. He began his ambulance service training with me and I found him to be a quick learner. He is already learning the Coroner job by attending and paying for classes with the Colorado Coroners Association.

On ambulance calls he has shown his ability to deal with survivors when a death occurs. His years of experience as an EMT has allowed him to see illness and trauma, which will aid him in determining how an injury occurs or the progression of an illness. His training as an EMT covers many areas of knowledge needed by the Coroner such as toxicology, anatomy, pharmacology, medical records interpretation and much more. He has the training to determine the cause and manner of death or to know when to consult a forensic pathologist. He respects confidentiality and knows the laws surrounding these issues. Just Google David Kintz Jr. to see his website with training, biography, platform and contact information.

David has been interested in the Coroner position for several years and was the first person to file his intent when the current Coroner decided not to seek re-election. I ask you to cast your vote for David Kintz Jr. in the August 10 primary election.
